The 6th Annual 2008 Spring Training season began February 27. Individual game tickets may be purchased in person at the Surprise Stadium Ticket Office, 15960 N. Bullard Avenue, online at www.ticketmaster.com or over the phone with Ticketmaster at 480.784.4444. The 28-game schedule features multiple visits by the 2007 National League Champions - Colorado Rockies; also the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners. All games will be played at the Surprise Recreation Campus, the Spring Training home of the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers.

The Peoria Sports Complex is the Spring Training and player development home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. The first two-team facility built in the country, this complex is still thought of by many as the premier baseball facility in the country. Sitting on 145 acres, each team has 6 and 1/2 major league sized practice fields, an over 40,000 square foot clubhouse and indoor/outdoor batting tunnels and cages. The shared main stadium seats over 11,000 fans. The games began on Thursday February 28, 2008.

In 2007, Spring Training fans spent a total of $310,775,015 within the Grand Canyon State, which is a 54 percent increase from 2003 when fans spent a total of $201,608,787. 57 percent of Spring Training attendees came to Arizona from another state or country, an increase from 48 percent in 2003. In addition, more than 68 percent of out-of-state visitors indicated that coming to a Spring Training game was the "primary" reason for visiting Arizona.

The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority is a Municipal Corporation dedicated to enhancing our economy and our community's quality of life through the development of professional and amateur sports facilities, the attraction of entertainment, sporting, and business events, and through tourism promotion.

The Arizona Tourism and Sports Authority (DBA the Arizona Sports & Tourism Authority or AZSTA) was created through an Act of the State Legislature (SB 1220) and referred to the voters of Maricopa County (Proposition 302), which was approved by the voters on November 7, 2000.

It was the responsibility of the AZSTA to oversee design & construction and now to own and operate the University of Phoenix Stadium where the Arizona Cardinals play their home games. The AZSTA is also responsible for distributing public funds generated by an increase in the tax on hotel beds and rental cars to additional stakeholders identified in Proposition 302, namely, youth and amateur sports, tourism promotion and Cactus League baseball. The AZSTA is overseen by a nine-member board of directors, all of whom are volunteers and appointed by the Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House. The taxes (in Maricopa County) began to be levied on March 1, 2001 and will end on February 28, 2031. Car Rental Surcharge - 3.25%, Hotel Tax - 1%.
